Sr. HR Manager – Multi-Store Retail

Responsibilities:

Organize and manage all HR aspects of a growing organization:

Human Resources Management

· Assess the HR needs of the company as a whole and make recommendations for resource needs of each business unit/department

· Assess the effectiveness of HR management and make recommendations to direct reports

• Assist departmental managers to achieve employment engagement

· Discuss relevant HR matters with Managers, Directors, VPs and Execs as appropriate

Human Resources Management

  • Assess the HR needs of the company as a whole and make recommendations for resource needs of each business unit/department
  • Assess the effectiveness of HR management and make recommendations to direct reports
  • Assist departmental managers to achieve employment engagement
  • Discuss relevant HR matters with Managers, Directors, VPs and Execs as appropriate
  • Manage/coach a small HR department by setting good structure, policies, personal examples, and provide training and performance management

Recruiting and Employment contracts

  • The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment of staff for all departments, under the guidance of the applicable department.
  • Assist Managers in formalizing the Job Descriptions for the positions and give guidance for the appropriate job title, salary range and type of the contract
  • Review job offers and termination letters and make recommendations as needed

Resolution Management

  • Discuss and learn any possible issues or conflicts between employees and act as a liaison to senior management, to achieve successful resolution
  • Conduct interviews and investigations regarding the conflicts that may arise between employees, managers and departments
  • Act as a subject expert, to assist senior management with resolve any employment or organizational disputes within the organization in an unbiased fashion

Training

  • Implement Talent Management and Succession Planning for the various departments
  • Assess the cross-training needs of various departments and help the teams to achieve cohesiveness
  • Initiate a company wide new employee orientation program to encompass the corporate and departmental training
  • Oversee and evaluate HR Policies, programs and procedures using Performance Management framework, onboarding and training

Health and Safety

  • Oversee the Occupational Health and Safety Function
  • Help direct reports manage special situations, such as the current Covid-19 crisis

Administration and Other

  • Oversee that the personnel files are kept in confidence and up to date
  • Participate in Social Committee meetings for event planning as well as other relevant committees to enhance the company’s employee engagement
  • Develop HR budgeting with the Finance team
  • Other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar capacity of setting up, leading and managing the HR function
  • 10+ years progressive experience in all areas of Human Resources management
  • A professional designation in Human Resources Management (CHRL or CHRP) preferred
  • Experience and background in talent assessment, talent acquisition and overall HR corporate needs as well as in recruiting, hiring, performance management and terminations
  • Strong understanding and leadership in the Code of Ethics, confidentiality, anti-racism, prevention of harassment and discrimination
  • Expert knowledge of Labour Standards and all applicable laws
  • Exemplary professional behaviour and leadership
  • Negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong business acumen and change management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to interact well with different audiences of management and staff
  • Strategic planning and leadership development skills

Salary/Bonus: Commensurate with experience
