Plant Quality Manager – Extrusion

Our client manufactures standard High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) conduits for standard installation applications such as standard underground, innerducts in existing conduits, or corrugated products to use in congested areas. They are looking for a Plant Quality Manager for their Sparks NV facility.

Responsibilities:
• Manages and supervises quality department at manufacturing location assigned including all aspects of planning and task management within the department.
• Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques and ensure compliance to quality KPI’s targets and resolution of customer complaints.
• Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes, review and analyze results, recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.
• Ensures best practices are being follow for applicable core tools like APQP & Control Plans, PFMEA’s, Process Flows, SPC, MSA, etc.
• Maintain Control Plans and FMEA’s throughout the life of the part and participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Ensure operational processes and subprocesses at the plant are in compliance with TL-9000 requirements, including inspection/testing methods, Calibration of M&TE, Control of Non-conforming Products, Operational Training, Supply Chain Development, FAI, Final Audits, Document Control,etc.
• Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action & apply appropriate use of statistical techniques.
• Collaborate and participate on quality internal Audits and ensure that plants execute robust corrective actions without delay and ensure readiness for all internal and external quality audits.
• Develop the annual audit plan, train internal audit team members, perform necessary duties as Lead Internal Auditor and provide ongoing communication/reporting of results.
• Coordinate and direct external 3rd party registration/surveillance audits
• Oversee the controlled document system, to include a final review of all changes to procedures, work instructions, forms, master lists and other associated documents to ensure quality certification requirements are met.
• Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved corporate quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs.
• Continuous improvement mindset – researches and evaluates evolving quality and technology trends and legislation, stay informed regarding emerging quality issues and best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and assist with development of policy recommendations
• Manage and prioritize on-going continuous improvement projects directly related to operational processes to support business needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Responsible for process execution at the plant including Complaints, Change Control, Deviations, Laboratory Investigations, CAPA, ECOs, and extension requests.
• Engineering change order, supplier approval/validation process, change management
Must Have Skills/Experience:
• At least 5 years’ experience working with a certified quality management system
• Experience in the automotive/manufacturing/aerospace/ telecommunication industry; Plastic
Extrusion knowledge is a plus
• Handle projects such as scrap reduction and customer complaint elimination
