Health & Safety Coordinator
Recruiting For Less – Our client, an established Roofing company in the GTA, is looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team!
Responsibilities:
· Work with the Safety Consultant and initiate annual reviews of the company’s OHS policies and programs
· Ensure all updates in Legislation have ben incorporated, and highlight recommendations
· Prepare approved revised policies
· Advise all parties of any major changes in legislation and if necessary, prepare revised documentation and arrange for training of field employees
· Work with Safety Consultant, prepare any new SWP’s and make necessary revisions to existing SWP’s to ensure they are up to date
· Review all new or revised SWP’s, highlighting any changes, with the H&SM
· Ensure that the appropriate changes are made to our Worker Orientation Program
· Oversee training schedules to ensure all certificates are current
· Become familiar with all Safety Reports the company requires and work with the Safety Consultant and H&SM to improve and keep our reports current with changes in legislation
· Monitor and maintain adequate levels of first aid supplies
· Send requisitions to the Purchasing Agent for replenishment
· Maintain inspection logs of safety supplies
· Take responsibility for maintaining and updating all areas of the FASTRACK MAINTENANCE PROGRAM i.e. new equipment purchases, tasks, parts, costs etc.
· Liaise with the in-house company handling repairs to equipment and vehicles
· Work with the H&SM and JH&SC on accident investigation and reporting to WSIB
· Assist H&SM in monitoring any WSIB claims and Early Return to Work Program
· Call quarterly JH&SC meeting and prepare agenda of topics for discussion, as well as keeping the minutes of conversation
· Conduct monthly on-site inspections with the JH&SC member for labor
· Prepare inspection report, and review with Field Supervisors
· Periodically visit jobsites to observe safety practices and note safety non-compliance issues, reporting them to Foremen, Supervisor the H&SM and the JH&SC
· Follow up with the Supervisors to ensure that safety deficiencies have been resolved
· Maintain work area in a near and orderly fashion
Qualifications:
· 1-2 years construction safety experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
· Post-secondary certificate in health and safety management
· Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations
· Experience writing policies and procedures for health and safety
· Familiarity with data analysis and reporting statistics
· Excellent computer skills – proficiency in MS Office Suite
· Knowledge of Crystal Reports helpful
· Experience conducting safety training sessions of personnel helpful
· Experience in the COR Program and a digitalized safety management environment helpful
Salary: $55-65k, benefits, vehicle, 8:30-5PM
