IT Business Analyst

The Business Analyst position is designed for an individual who possess deep working knowledge across multiple IT disciplines and can expand their technical skills into new areas by utilizing prior work experiences coupled with a combination of:
• Formal training (i.e. Classroom setting, online training courses)
• Hands-on training (i.e. Proof of Concepts, tool comparison testing)
• Investigative skills (i.e. Online research, webinars)
The BA will add value to the company by being able to:
• Troubleshoot problems and resolve with no to little outside assistance.
• Identify root causes to issues and create appropriate short and long-term solutions.
• Determine when existing tools, functions or procedures are no longer adequate or are out of date; ability to research alternatives and define a replacement solution.
• Understand the business needs and deliver a solution which solves the problem.
Areas in which the IT Professional needs to possess relevant technical experience include:
• Practical application of technology and research
• IT Security, Compliance and Standards
• Business Requirements and Documentation
• The ideal candidate will either possess basic working understanding of SQL Databases or have the aptitude and desire to learn and become a back-up to incumbent DBA

Technology and Research
The ideal candidate must possess experience in working within a Microsoft technology environment (Windows 10, Office365, SQL Server, Sharepoint, PowerAutomate, etc.) as well as a working knowledge of network, telecom, and A/V systems. Where the candidate lacks specific skill areas, they can demonstrate the ability and desire to learn and broaden their technical expertise to serve the business across a broad spectrum of IT related areas. Specific areas of concentration include:
• Ability to research, evaluate and recommend technology tools to be adopted by the business (mapping tools, data analytical tools, etc.).
• Willingness and aptitude to own specific technology areas which will require quick, in-depth learning and support of high-demand end users.
• Desire to work with business partners in evaluating cloud and non-cloud based solutions to solve business problems

Additionally, this role will support other team members in the following areas:
• Minimize organizational cost through product standardization and tracking.
• Provide moderately complex technical support to clients via direct support, on-line, email, phone, or other methods.
• Serve as backup for other IT Team members when needed.
• On-Call Support during non-business hours. This is a 3-person rotation (weekly) with limited issues needing resolution.
IT Security and Compliance
• Analyzes information security systems and applications and recommends and develops security measures to protect information against unauthorized modification or loss.
• Audits information systems, platforms, and operating procedures in accordance with established corporate standards for efficiency, accuracy, and security.
• Evaluates IT infrastructure in terms of risk to the organization and establishes controls to mitigate loss.
• Works with fellow IT personnel to identify improvements in current risk management controls and implementation of system changes or upgrades.
• Database and Application Security Analysis.
• End-User Security Awareness and Training.
• Evaluation of existing tools; Research and evaluation of next generation security tools, protocols and measures – making recommendations for company use.
• Understanding of PII and PCI Compliance.

IT Business Requirements
The ideal candidate will work in partnership with fellow IT employees and business representatives to ensure the business needs are understood, documented, and translated for IT development initiatives. Additionally, this role will be responsible for creating and/or documenting IT processes, system architecture diagrams, and other technology-based documentation.

Specific skill areas include:
• Demonstrated leadership, initiative and technology acumen including programming experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• An ability to gain a solid understanding of business functional areas, business management issues and data analysis.
• Ability to write functional requirements which contain detailed specifications, workflow charts, diagrams, and wireframe diagrams.
• Ability to suggest changes using analytics to support recommendations. Actively participate and/or lead in the implementation of approved changes.
• Ability to analyze complex business problems and assess how automation can improve current issues.
• Provide IT support for regulatory and compliance activities.
• Ability to define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and timelines, establishing project budget.
• Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
Requirements
• BA in Computer Science or other computer information systems degree
• 5+ years related experience
