CNC Programmer/Machinist

Our client, is a prototype and production machine shop specializing in 4 and 5 axis machining of complex and highly contoured precision products. They are a primary source for turbomachinery components and assemblies to the aerospace, defense and industrial/commercial sectors. The are looking for a CNC Programmer/Machinist (Manufacturing Engineer).

As an integral member of the engineering team your role as CNC Programmer will support the development of high-quality CNC programs, manufacturing plans, and production tooling designs for multi-axis machining centers.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Develop and modify CNC programs to support all aspects of the machining process including CNC lathes, VTL, 5-axis mills, grinders
• Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, work instructions, setup sheets, sketches, and tool lists
• Hands-on NC program proof and debugging on various machines
• Design workholding and develop a robust machining process while being mindful of project cost and schedule
• Inspect own work and submit 1st article for buy-off
• Continuously improve new and existing processes
• Provide feedback and solutions to the engineering team and mentorship to other team members
• Work closely with shop-floor personnel to assure adherence to product quality, cost, and schedule requirements

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field
• 5+ years of hands-on multi-axis programming, machining, and tool design experience
• Experience with high-end CAD/CAM packages such as Siemens NX or hyperMILL
• Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Siemens 840D controls
• Positive and proactive self-starter with ability to work collaboratively in team settings or independently with minimal supervision when necessary
• Attention to detail, quality, cleanliness, and lean manufacturing principles
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
• Knowledgeable in cutter selection, feeds/speeds, and modern manufacturing methods
• Experience with high-value exotic and high-temp materials
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Practical knowledge of MS Office products

• Turbomachinery, airfoil, blade design and manufacturing
