Recruiting For Less – Our client, a top ranked 3PL, is looking for a HR Generalist to join their Gary IN area team.

The Human Resource Generalist provides HR support to the assigned business unit(s) in the areas of human resource compliance, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, benefits and all HR-related areas. Will work under the direction of Corporate Human Resources Business Partner to support and assist with HR functional activities such as HR policies, practices and procedures, benefits administration, staffing, timekeeping, employee performance reviews, salary benchmarking, governmental regulations and employer compliance, training and development, and employee relations.

Responsibilities::
• Perform Onboarding functions for all new employees including employee orientation, new hire paperwork, etc.
• Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports as needed. Helps to maintain Company Organization Chart and employee directories.
• Facilitate out-processing of terminated employees including administering Exit Interview.
• Acts as HR liaison to disseminate, implement, and administer Human Resources policies, practices and procedures.
• Serve as liaison between employees and health insurance benefit provider, conducts open enrollment, inputs benefit deduction information; communicates plans to newly hired employees, forwards information on terminated employees.
• Participates in the recruiting process as needed including creating job postings, screening candidates, coordinate interview schedules for candidates and staff.
• Provides support and guidance with regard to performance issues, disciplinary actions and other sensitive personnel issues.
• Insures employee communications, including promotion letters and counseling and disciplinary notices are presented in a timely manner.
• Maintains benchmarks of industry compensation trends for the geographical market.
• Prepare “First Report of Injury” for all Workers’ Comp claims. Keeps Corporate. HR informed of all incidents.
• Coordinate vacation requests.
• Organize employee training classes.
• Create and update employee job descriptions.
• Maintain Employee Handbook and coordinates updates.
• Assist employees with enrollment in the company 401(k), providing information upon employee eligibility and answers questions with regard to the plan.
• Maintain employee files and administer I9s for all staff and ensuring legal compliance with documentation retention and administration.
• Maintains records for contractors and leased employees.
• All other duties as assigned, including special projects as relates to HR issues.
• Government reporting responsibilities for all payroll related filings.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a human resources role with strong command of applicable labor laws, recruiting/talent management, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations and conducting investigations.
• Previous experience working in 24/7, transportation industry and experience in industrial/warehouse/manufacturing environment is required.
• Previous experience and proficiency with HRIS, including managing requisitions, entering data and information, running reports, etc. DayForce/Ceridian experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of commonly used HR concepts, practices and procedures.
• Relies on pre-established guidelines, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Service oriented with attentive and timely reaction to client issues.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent desktop computing skills with a high-level proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Adaptability- able to change tasks quickly as business needs dictate.
