Purchasing Manager – Pharma

Recruiting For Less – Our Philadelphia client, a FDA registered, cGMP compliant and ISO certified contract pharmaceutical manufacturer is in need of a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement and inventory management of inventory and non-inventory supplies to support the company operations.

Responsibilities:
• Generate / place purchase orders with vendors on a timely manner based on Demand Planning.
• Maintain product and vendor information updates in ERP system.
• Monitor inventory levels through MRP Reports or other available resources to determine quantity and delivery scheduling with suppliers.
• Prepare / issue Expiration Report (monthly) and Customer Supplied Inventory (every two weeks).
• Manage office supplies and other related general supplies as requested.
• Develop and recommend alternate suppliers meeting quality requirements, performance, compliance and price competitiveness. Identify opportunities for supplier reduction, creation of value, supply chain improvement and improve effectiveness.
• Maintain supplier agreements to ensure that performance and future business needs are aligned and company expectations are met.
• Collaborate with all departments (Quality, Production, Regulatory, etc.) to support their requirements.
• Review supply issues and communicate to management as necessary.
• Expedite open orders with vendors and resolve discrepancies with supplier shipments.

Qualifications:
Must have:
• 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, inventory control and merchandising
• Knowledge & experience working with: ERP / MRP system & cGMP’s
• Strong computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies and issues.
• Displays exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Possesses strong organizational skills as well as excellent time management skills.
• Ability to perform all requirements independently with limited managerial oversight.
• Must possess the abilities to meet accelerated timelines, manage multiple shifting priorities and maximize efficiencies in a dynamic customer-focused environment.
• Superior attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work product.

Nice to have:
• Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Knowledge & experience working with:
o Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API’s)
o Excipients, vitamins & minerals
o Packaging (bottles, tubes, syringes, jars, aerosols…)

Compensation:
• Salary to 70k commensurate with experience, Vacation, Benefits, 401k
