Accountant – Fashion Distribution

Our central Toronto client, a leader in the fashion distribution sector, is looking for an accountant to work with the Controller in managing the financial reins of this family owned business. Wearing different hats, this role will support all accounting, finance and business decision activities. Primary Responsibilities
Daily operations of the Accounting department
Monitor, analyze and provide commentary on operating results against budget
Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance of divisions & departments
Prepare financial statements, outlooks and forecasts
Coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions
Develop financial and budget policies and procedures
Coordinate debt financing and debt service payments
Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions
Conduct deep dive analyses as required
Ensure compliance with municipal , provincial, and federal budgetary reporting and tax requirements
Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop 3 and 5 year business plans
Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
Serve on planning and policy-making committees
Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues
Financial management of foreign operations
Assist with financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Knowledge of finance , accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP
Knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems
Knowledge of federal and provincial financial and tax
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Knowledge of short/long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
Professional written and verbal communication, and interpersonal
Ability to motivate teams to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several
Ability to participate in and facilitate group
Requires willingness to work a flexible

Qualifications:
3 – 5 years of experience in an accounting role
Accounting designation (CMA, CA)

Compensation
$55,000 – 65,000
Group health and dental coverage
2 weeks annual paid vacation
