Plant Manager

Our Toronto-based client, a manufacturer of specialized electrical components is in need of a Plant Manager to be responsible for the production operations, administrative and cost management, and ensuring quality and efficiency to achieve delivery goals. The successful candidate should demonstrate thorough knowledge and experience in implementing Lean/Six Sigma in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:
• Manage planning and allocation of production resources to accomplish the plants goals, including the preparation of short/long term production goals, delivery deadlines and asset utilization to ensure total manufacturing objectives are met or exceeded
• Ensure all departmental programs operate within acceptable guidelines in accordance with plant’s goals in an efficient and effective manner
• Determine through Lean/Six Sigma plant continuous improvement projects and drive continuous improvement leading to productivity and efficiency gains with overall cost reduction
• Measure and analyze cost of production, labour metrics and efficiency metrics. Verify Engineering rates
• Manage all business to meet quarterly and annual profit and operating goals, have financial oversight in plant operations
• Act as the Management Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are strictly followed
• Establish new plant policies and procedures as identified or required.
• Develop flexible and integrated programs to determine optimum inventory levels and optimum utilization of machinery, materials and resources
• Conduct and approve employee performance reviews
• Authority in hiring, disciplinary and termination of plant employees

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a management role in a fast-paced ISO 9001:2008 manufacturing environment
• University/College degree required, BA or BS in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management/Business Administration
• Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean Green Belt certified
• Strong computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be oriented to process improvement with a strong bias to results
• Exceptional leadership skills, high energy level, and maturity as a leader and motivator
• Effective communicator, skilled people manager with ability to manage, train, and coach people in a changing environment
• Experienced, trained and knowledgeable in computer use and their application including KanBan, MRP and MRP II

Compensation:
• Salary: $70-85K + Bonus, commensurate with experience
• Vacation: 2 weeks
