Dispatch Operations Coordinator

Our Toronto-based client, a freight brokerage firm is in need of a Dispatch Operations Coordinator to be responsible for scheduling and assigning deliveries and ensuring daily procedures operate smoothly and efficiently. This is an entry-level role for a candidate looking to grow and establish a career in operations. The successful candidate is methodical in nature, will be able to effectively communicate, juggle competing priorities, and demonstrates a sense of urgency and loyalty.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and understand shipping requirements to verify and determine servicing
  • Source and negotiate with carriers for best rates. Establish and maintain relationships with carriers for ongoing business opportunities
  • Arrange and plan loads with sufficient time and resources to ensure on-time delivery
  • Enter booking and shipping information into database and confirm/verify carrier agreements
  • Track and trace loads to address any issues and ensure accurate deliveries
  • Liaise with customers to resolve inquiries and provide updates or changes
  • Oversee and manage progress of all deliveries and loads
  • Ensure all booking and shipping information is accurate, logical and complete

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in an operations or customer service position, experience in dispatch in a freight brokerage environment
  • University/College degree preferred
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), comfortable working with databases
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Highly detail-oriented and structured

    Compensation:

  • Salary: $35,000-40,000 commensurate with experience
  • Vacation: 2 weeks
