IT Director / Lead Programmer

Our Toronto-based client, a benefits and pension plan administrator, is in need of an IT Director / Lead Programmer to be responsible for the planning and execution of Information Technology strategies, as well as oversee and assist in ongoing programming projects and development.  Managing a team of 6 this role reports to the COO.  The successful candidate should demonstrate experience with IT systems and management at a senior level, an understanding of strategic and business planning methods, tools, and processes, as well as have current programming experience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership to ensure business applications are available and performing to specifications
  • Oversee the selection, acquisition, development, installation, maintenance and support of information technology
  • Meeting scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner
  • Lead and oversee programming projects in Universe, C, and SQL.
  • Managing, assigning, and monitoring work for the team in areas of technical direction
  • Oversee effective resource planning and utilization within the team, including the acquisition, retention and continuing development of key talent
  • Focus on leveraging technology to streamline processes, accurately capture data and report of key metrics and performance indicators in an effective manner
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the technical infrastructure
  • Manage spending against budget on an ongoing basis

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in IT management
  • Experience in a Citrix environment and Windows Server 2012
  • Strong programming skills (Universe, C, SQL)
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, direct and coordinate project activities, ensuring customer satisfaction with support and project delivery
  • Experience of leading and developing a team of qualified and skilled individuals. Proven skills in building high performing mature technology teams
  • A track record of integrating systems and building technologies to capture data and effectively report on key business metrics.
  • Ability to inspire and create positive action within your team, as well as with information technology suppliers and internal customers and with external customers
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, with ability to manage multiple demands while staying focused on results

 

Compensation:

  • Total Compensation – commensurate with experience
