Position Overview:
This role is responsible for the programming and production scheduling for the daily operation of the lasers and CNC machines. He/she will also work closely with the laser and CNC operators to ensure that all laser and CNC parts are correct and cut to company standards. With the right attitude and performance this role has the potential to join the senior management team.
Responsibilities:
Create and modify programs with company software and document all programs
Write, compile, and modify application programs for required laser and CNC program code
Work with management, engineering, and shop floor staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production requirements
Maximize material usage i.e. minimize material waste, through the effective scheduling and nesting of jobs
Assist in loading/unloading machines when additional help is required to maintain throughput
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area
Assist with machine alignment procedures & optic cleaning to maintain optimal performance
Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with company standards
Check parts with precision inspection equipment
Assist with inspection, qualification and validation of tools, fixtures, and First Article parts using basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc.)
Analyze inspection reports to verify adherence to drawings, specs and processing procedures
Participate in cross-functional team design reviews to ensure conformance to specifications
Export AUTOCAD or Inventor files into DXF format to generate laser and CNC programs
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
4 – 5 years of experience with laser and AUTOCAD software
Working experience on multiple brands of laser and CNC machines
Manufacturing experience in a custom metal fabrication shop with laser & CNC setup and operation
Ability to learn or have some working knowledge of NC machine code
Ability to inspect flat laser cut parts with precision inspection equipment
Possess knowledge and ability to identify fabrication industry metals
Familiarity with sheet metal flat patterns preferred
Demonstrated ability to read drawings
Good drawing and reading comprehension skills
Ability to work extended hours on an as-needed basis
Detail oriented, able to problem solve with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs. frequently
Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently
Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment as per company standards
Work in a fast paced industrial environment
Compensation
$20-25/hour commensurate with experience
