Logistics/Transportation Specialist – Import/Export

Our west Toronto client, an established import/export firm, is in need of a Logistics / Transportation Specialist to manage the inbound/outbound movement of product. Working with all modes of transportation carriers this role will coordinate shipment schedules and be responsible for a large database of shipping information. This role requires familiarity with the v-lookup function of Excel.

Responsibilities:
• Plan, schedule and confirm shipments with carriers
• Build & develop new carrier relationships, manage & maintain existing relationships
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers
• Daily interaction with vendors and customers
• Facilitate daily network monitoring and controlling of time sensitive shipments.
• Update various software systems daily with shipment status information for track and trace capabilities.
• Incident management – develops and implements contingency plans in accordance with SOP’s.
• Works quickly to identify and resolve problems that develop, notifying appropriate parties

Qualifications:
• 5+ years’ experience in logistics and/or transportation operations and customer service
• Post-secondary degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain management an asset
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel, *must be able to demonstrate v-lookup proficiency in Excel*
• Strong organizational and analytical skills as well as attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and proactively implement contingency services
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines to meet daily goals

Compensation:
• Salary: $55,000 – $62,500
• Vacation: 2 weeks
