Sr. Energy Engineer

Recruiting For Less – Our NYC based client is a full-service energy consulting firm providing energy efficiency, energy modeling, energy management, commissioning and local law compliance solutions for buildings in the commercial and multifamily residential sectors. They are seeking an experienced Energy Engineer / Commissioning Engineer.

The engineer be responsible for supervision of existing junior energy engineers on staff and be responsible for completing ASHRAE Level II energy audits, including data collection, utility analysis, energy calculations and cost estimates. Their primary focus will be NYC Local Law 87 Compliance Projects and Commissioning Projects to demonstrate Energy Code Compliance. They will also be responsible for completing retro-commissioning of HVAC systems such as boilers, building management systems, chillers, air handling units, pumps and fans. Candidates should have prior experience performing energy audits, retro-commissioning projects as well as a strong passion for the fields of HVAC, building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance of building performance projects including:
  • ASHRAE Level I, II and III Energy Audits
  • Retro-Commissioning of existing buildings
  • Commissioning of new construction and rehabilitation projects
  • Energy Benchmarking
  • Carbon Footprint analysis
  • Manage applications for incentives and other benefit programs such as NYSERDA and Con Edison C&I
  • Providing oversight, technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members
  • Develop technical standards for all building performance projects
  • Staffing Assignment Allocation and Project Scheduling
  • Providing technical assistance to marketing and business development efforts
  • Invoicing and tracking of project financials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering field – Required
  • Graduate Degree in relevant engineering field – Preferred
  • Registered design professional status Preferred
  • Ability to obtain registered design professional status with NYC DOB – Required
  • PE License – Preferred
  • CEM or CEA – Preferred
  • EBCP or CBCP or CxA – Preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience with energy or Cx related projects
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation and control systems across a variety of building types
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications.
  • Working knowledge of energy modeling software such as eQuest, TRANE TRACE, IES VE, Carrier HAP, Energy Plus, Design Builder, Open Studio
  • Ability to create custom functional performance test scripts
  • Experience presenting information to all levels of management.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
