Project Superintendent – Heavy Civil
Recruiting For Less – Our Client, a Texas-based, heavy civil general contractor with broad experience serving both public and private sector clients, is looking for a Project Superintendent to join their team.
The Project Superintendent will supervise multiple water based, heavy civil construction related projects for their industrial, commercial, institutional, governmental, municipal, and public infrastructure clients, in order to meet company objectives of costs, quality, time and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Direct field operations for all on-site construction activities
- Maintain responsibility for the delivery of projects by adhering to schedules, budgets, safety, and risk
- Understanding of the contract and scope of work, ensuring scope of work is clearly communicated to trades
- Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of the subcontractors
- Effectively manage field employees by providing guidance and leadership
- Developing and communicating a 2-week look-ahead schedule
- Enforcing on site safety in accordance with the latest regulations
- Reporting all accidents and incidents promptly
- Continually ensure any hazards are identified/controlled/eliminated and recorded and filed
- Completing a detailed review of drawings and understand project plans and specifications thoroughly
- Develop and execute project work plans aimed at keeping projects on track and on budget
- Review site labour requirements and manage hourly employees
- Keep a daily log of site activities on the project
- Assure construction compliance with design requirements, schedule, and budgets
- Ensure that all proper authorities and consultants are performing periodic inspections as required
- Arrange for all necessary inspections throughout the duration of the project
- Prepare for weekly/bi-weekly progress meetings held with owners/consultants
- Reporting any challenges or issues to the Construction Manager in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience assisting or supervising construction of complex water- based projects and or Heavy Civil projects
- College Diploma / Engineering Degree (preferred)
- Water based projects experience (preferred)
- Experience with Army Corp engineering and government projects (preferred)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong skills in project management, negotiation, and problem solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High ability to function effectively in teamwork environment
- Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for project management
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
