Computer Service Tech

Our Mount Vernon client has been providing IT services throughout southern Illinois for over 30 years. It’s time for some succession planning. They are looking for a mid-level IT Service Tech to join their team and in time perhaps take over the firm.

Responsibilities:
• Answer inbound calls and help walk-in customers
• Determine scope of customer issue in an effective and professional manner
• Effectively resolve customer issue in a timely manner
• Properly document actions taken
• Represent company in a professional and ethical manner
• Resolve customer requests by investigating problems, developing solutions and recommend additional products and/or services relevant to your assessment of the customer wants and needs.
• Network, server and desktop setup and repair
• Setup wireless networks (some outdoor)
• Setup video surveillance cameras
• Assemble PC hardware and load Windows O/S
• Quickly determine hardware and software failures
• Some driving to customer offices and homes
• Work alone and as a team member

Requirements:
• A+ certification or better is required
• Familiar with:
– Microsoft Windows versions 7 and newer and Microsoft Windows Servers 2012R2 and newer
– Microsoft Office and other common software applications
– Network, router and wiring specifications
– Wireless networking specifications
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly
• Communicate technical directions over the phone to inexperienced computer users
• Excellent customer interaction skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to problem-solve
• Ability to follow written instructions
• Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
