Civil Project Manager

Our San Antonio client, a multi-office firm providing structural engineering, civil engineering, land surveying, and facility assessments throughout Texas and southern US is looking for a Civil Project Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Reports to Partners and Civil Department Manager
• Manage a team that may including a project engineer and/or a Civil 3D technician.
• Civil analysis and design, primarily as it relates to site development.
• Work with other staff to develop construction documents.
• Prepare and review technical plans, specifications, contract documents, and estimates
• Supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State, and County officials, and other outside agencies
• Serve as primary point of contact with clients, agencies, contractors, and design teams.
• Coordinate drawings with other design team disciplines.
• Oversee drafting personnel during production of project drawings.
• Participates in contract bidding including response to bidder questions and issuance of addendums.
• Perform construction administration after construction document phase of project consisting of field observations, review of shop drawings, responding to RFI’s and creating ASI’s and PR’s as required.
• Utilize IES standards in design and detailing projects.
• Foster a positive work environment within the engineering department, production department, and overall office.
• Maintain client satisfaction in the coordination of project work.
• Assist contractors in their successful construction of the intent of our contract documents.
• Respond timely to RFIs and review shop drawings in the timeframe allotted.
• Meet project deadlines and task deadlines necessary to achieve those project deadlines.
• Contribute to overtime efforts of your team.
• Review timesheets of team members to ascertain where time is being spent so as to help the team members focus on areas where the work can be done more efficiently.
• Builds a sense of teamwork within their team and overall satisfaction with the results of their work effort.
• Participates in the training of staff.
• Create and maintain client relationships that will result in additional work from those clients and create work from new clients due to references from existing clients.
• Includes technical direction over a group of civil engineers and/or functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced civil engineering concepts
• Markets the firm’s capabilities within the civil engineering specialty to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. Prepares proposals for potential projects
• Participates in the selection of design teams and sub-consultants and in the negotiations of fees and subcontractors
• Assists in constructability and quality assurance reviews of construction documents produced by other teams.
• Proficient in use of Civil3D

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain licensure immediately following the hire
• 5 years of experience
