Overseas Purchasing Supervisor

Our Toronto-based client, an established retail electronics import/export firm is in need of a Overseas Purchasing Supervisor.  They are looking for a multi-tasking individual who thrives in a fast paced environment. The candidate we are looking for must have hands on experience dealing with Letters of Credit (LCs) and direct import experience.  This would include opening purchase orders, LCs and transfer LCs to Asian suppliers. Knowledge of import regulations for consumer electronics our household appliances though not necessary it would be considered an asset.

The individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Key liaison between supplier/customer/bank for all LC related issues
  • Daily to issuance and amendments of regular LCs to suppliers
  • Transfer/amend transferrable LCs to supplier
  • Preparing draft/collection documents to present to the bank for payment
  • Setting up new LC templates
  • Reviewing terms and conditions of the LC
  • Issuing and adjusting all supplier purchase orders (POs)
  • Communicating all PO related issues to the appropriate personnel
  • Preparing daily problem purchase order reports, reviewing with President of the company and feedback to all vendors.
  • Coordinating ordering requirements to ensure on time delivery to our customers
  • Communicating shipping instructions to overseas suppliers based on customer requirements and follow up closely to ensure no mistakes from vendors.
  • Coordinating with customer’s freight forwarder to ensure on time booking/shipping/documentation and follow up if necessary
  • Ensuring timely presentation of documents to speed up the payment process
  • Supervising the PO/LC team to ensure everything is done on the timely and error-free manner to avoid chargebacks from customers.
  • Solving all PO/LC and direct import related issues for the companies.

Compensation:

  • Salary: commensurate with experience
