Laser Operator – Metal Fabrication

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more laser cutting machines. He/she also assists with area housekeeping, maintenance work and material staging.

Two roles are available: Day shift 7:30am-4pm Night shift 4:30pm – 1am

Responsibilities:
• Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures on laser cutting equipment
• Stage raw materials at work-center for the day’s production
• Load and unload machines
• Maintain daily dust collector service & associated logbook in assigned area, report equipment deficiencies
• Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated by the plant manager
• Assist in loading/unloading other machines when required to maintain throughput
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area
• Perform machine alignment procedures & optic cleaning maintain optimal performance
• Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with company standards
• Check parts with precision inspection equipment
• Monitor resonator gas levels and recommend supply requirements for daily production, order as required

Qualifications:
• 1+ years of experience operating laser cutting machines
• Working experience on multiple brands of laser machines
• Ability to inspect flat laser cut parts with precision inspection equipment
• Possess some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals
• Familiarity with sheet metal flat patterns preferred
• Ability to learn or have some working knowledge of NC machine code
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Good drawing and reading comprehension skills
• Demonstrated ability to read drawings
• Ability to work well as a team member
• Understanding and support of company policies and procedures
• Safety conscious behavior
• Excellent attendance

Physical Requirements:
• Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs. frequently
• Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently
• Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment as per company standards
• Work in a fast paced industrial environment

Compensation:
• $20-25/hr commensurate with experience
• Group health and dental coverage
• 4% vacation pay
• Employee profit sharing program
