Assistant Facility Manager – Indoor Rock Climbing

Our Markham/Mississauga indoor rock climbing client, a community-focused premier fitness and tourism destination, is in need of an Assistant Facility Manager to oversee management of its Markham facility. Responsible for all operational and administrative functions, the AFM also serves as liaison between the facility members, staff and Directors and leads the charge on community focused initiatives. This role should move into a Facility Manager position within 1 – 2 years.

If you are adept at wearing multiple hats, charismatic, able to inspire and lead using strong communication skills; but are also responsible, can ensure protocol adherence and follow up on tasks then this is the role for you!

** This is a recreational facility. Works hours include weekends, evenings and some holidays.**

Responsibilities:
• Staff management, coaching and training
• Customer service: Lead by example by setting the bar for all staff members to meet the needs of members and guests
• Resource Management: Coordinate appropriate resources and materials for events and programs; organize volunteers and staff involvement
• Manage schedules; oversee events, programs, lessons, and safety inspections
• Daily interaction with members and staff to survey for future business needs
• Manage updates on social network platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
• Ensure completion and accuracy of payroll administration in a timely manner
• Provide weekly reports to Directors

Qualifications:
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a management role and administration
• Experience in a fitness/recreational community and/or hospitality an asset
• Experience with managing through KPIs, dashboards and metrics
• University/college education required
• Computer literacy in Internet, Email, MS Office
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, able to work well in a team
• Effective organizational and time management skills
• Versatility, adaptability, strong ability to act with tact and diplomacy to a varied audience
• Car, to drive between locations

Compensation:
• Salary: 37.5 – 50k commensurate with experience
• Vacation: 2 weeks
