Our Bethesda, MD based client, a leader in automated cyberthreat detection and response is looking for a Threat Research Engineer. This role will troubleshoot difficult problems across a diverse set of systems and create solutions to operationalize research data into viable detection products for their customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy, manage, and monitor performance and availability of mission-critical Threat Systems group servers and applications in AWS, ESX and traditional colo servers.
- Maintain and secure production operating systems, networks, and gateways.
- Be on-call to handle any emergencies related to the IT infrastructure.
- Enhance systems and processes for change management and documentation.
Qualifications
The right candidate for this exciting opportunity will possess the following background:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent and a year related experience.
- Hands-on experience working with high-availability production systems.
- Expert knowledge of Linux systems. (CentOS, RedHat, Suse, Ubuntu).
- Strong knowledge of managing AWS (Amazon Web Services) infrastructure and ESX. (Security Groups, VPC, Elastic Load balancers, EC2 instances).
- Understanding of shell and python scripting with ability to reverse engineer script logic and make them more efficient.
- Experience in developing and engineering large-scale data management projects, APIs, and testing/research environments.
- Knowledge of DNS, network protocols, network topology, and VPNs (OpenVPN, pfsense).
- Experience with configuration and operation of monitoring tools like Nagios.
- Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
- Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing business needs.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with data tools like Splunk.
- Experience with Apache Hadoop infrastructure and toolset.
Compensation:
