Collections Specialist

Our Toronto-based client, an auto finance company is in need of a Collections Specialist who has strong negotiation skills and collections experience.  A self-motivated individual who is highly productive and results oriented when following up on overdue accounts.  A great communicator who can negotiate payment terms that are beneficial to all parties involved and is committed to achieving high results, while being excited to be a part of a success story!

As a Collections Specialist, you will use your negotiation and interpersonal skills to support the company’s collections and credit risk management process by ensuing compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for….

  • Maintaining records of all collection accounts by reviewing accounts receivable balance on a daily basis; collecting on payments that are based on loan terms in an effort to reduce delinquency and bad debt.
  • Determining most effective and economical means of collection for each account; applying standard due diligence practices to collect monies owed.
  • Advising consumers on outstanding payment schedule which includes the principles of credit outstanding; negotiating payment terms that are beneficial to the company and the customer, keeping customer information updated.
  • Handling collection issues which involves processing and reviewing account adjustments, resolving consumer discrepancies and short payments.
  • Managing NFS payments, on a daily basis, by contacting the customer to re-issue payment; updating in the accounting system to reflect the new terms.
  • Recommending accounts to be turned over for litigation, preparing report of historical data to substantiate action to be taken.

 

The successful candidate will have….

  • A post-secondary education or equivalent coupled with 1 to 3 years experience in a collections position.
  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and negation skills with a proven track record of negotiating fair and favourable payment terms.
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude while being a highly motivated team player.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with the ability to stay organized through planning and prioritization.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting and resolution skills.
